Creative Direction

About

FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS, MY MOM
HAS BEEN ASKING ME WHAT I DO.

I was part of the first class to attend Miami Ad School in the early 90's. That's where I learned where ads come from. Over the more than 3 decades since, I've worked as a Copywriter & Creative Director for a handful of agencies in Las Vegas and Los Angeles as well as in-house for 4 corporate giants: Target Corporation, Deutsche Bank, and MGM International. I'm currently the Executive Creative Director for Caesars Entertainment's in-house agency where I oversee the creative team behind all of the performance and brand initiatives on behalf of the company's more than 50 resort & gaming destinations. I've also worked with several design & public relations firms and been a consultant to quite a few private clients. Beauty, real estate and hospitality are the industries I'm most familiar with. Nike Golf, Reyn Spooner, L 'Oreal, La Roche-Posay, Drunk Elephant, Mike Tyson's Dwiink, Truckfit, Tillamook Farms, Fresh & Easy Grocery Stores, Winder Farms, California Pizza Kitchen, Wolfgang Puck, Carnival Cruise Lines and every major hotel brand along Las Vegas Boulevard are just some of the big name brands I've worked with. Print, experiential, direct mail and naming are my specialties, but I've been a full-fledged brand geek since birth. I've had some success as an entrepreneur, too. In 1999, I started the first bikini waxing shop brand in the country with my wife. I named it BOX®, she became significantly more successful than me, and I became a stay-at-home dad who carved out one of the more unique ad careers in the history of ad careers. A few years ago we sold the name (yes, the name) BOX® for just shy of $1M. That's pretty cool considering our original investment was $6K. Our biggest selling product to date is a men's deodorant called Sac & Crack®, which is available at bikiniwaxing.com. And we still own a couple of shops in LA & Las Vegas that now go by the name Human Landscapers®. That's it. That's my story, and I'm pretty sure none of it means boo to my mom. But if it matters to you, I'm always happy to chat. Until then, here's some of what I've saved along the way. If you'd like to see more let me know at j.goldwater@me.com.
